Exactly 20 years since playing their first gig as a complete band, and around 16 years since they'd last played music together (or at all), King Liar & the Brutes reunited to recreate a photograph and find out if they could still remember how to play their own songs. The answer was yes, they more or less could, at least well enough to satisfy anyone who'd care to listen and know what any of this meant.
And so here it is, a collection of fractured renderings of spontaneously selected songs performed by men suffering two decades' worth of accumulated damage since their last attempt at doing such a thing. They even managed to conjure up a brand new song, something I am sure will astonish the two listeners who are not members of the band.
Hear Project S.A.M., #1 Grand Prix Racing Circuit Champion #1, Captain Jackalope, Comptroller Alpha Brute and Soviet Drumming System come alive once more as though nothing has changed, but know that it has, and that you have, but music will endure and rock'n'roll can never die, but also fuck you.
